FRESNO, Calif. – Dominican women's tennis ran its win streak to five as it topped Metro State 4-2 Friday afternoon at Haak Tennis Complex. 

Lilly Stienmeier and Emily Hafner got the Roadrunners (5-11) off to a strong start as the duo took No. 2 doubles 6-2. Audrey Rafols and Gina Dudley answered for the Penguins (10-4) as they took court one 6-3 to knot up the doubles at one match each. MSUD's Hanna Haber and Kambra Roles were able to outlast Dominican's Maria Gavrilov and Haley Garcia 6-4 on the final court to take the doubles point.

Gavrilov and Haber battled once again in singles with Gavrilov taking a 6-4 opening set on court three. The second set seesawed to a 6-6 tie and sent the pair into a tiebreaker which was equally as close but Gavrilov was able to claim the final two points of the tiebreaker to win the match 7-6 (6) and tie the team score 1-1. No. 5 singles was the next to finish as Roles won 6-2, 4-6, 6-1 to put the Roadrunners back in front 2-1 as a team.

Rafols provided the answer for the Penguins as she outlasted Hafner in No. 1 singles 6-0, 5-7, 7-6 (3) to tie the team score 2-2. Gina Dudley gave Dominican their first lead of the match as she won 6-4, 6-0 over Kim Heddes in No. 2 singles and moving her team within a point of clinching the match. The Penguins had a set lead on the final two courts with Deepa Vanaraja winning set one of No. 4 singles 6-4 while Astrid Craig won 6-3 on court six. Craig was the first to finish claiming a 6-3 victory in the second set as well to hand Dominican the sweep of its conference foes from Colorado.

The Penguins will return to action against American River College for Senior Day on Saturday, March 30 at Castellucci Family Tennis Center.
