AZUSA, Calif. – Dominican women's basketball fell 82-53 Satruday afternoon at Azusa Pacific to complete its Southern California road trip.
Jenna Duley led the way for the Penguins (16-5, 9-4 PacWest) with 13 points, while
Olga Faasolo added 11 points. Kelly Heimburger led the Cougars (20-3, 14-0 PacWest) with 19 points and six blocks.
Dominican struggled to find a rhythm on offense in the first half as Tylee Manuel scored back-to-back buckets to cap an opening 9-3 run for APU. The Cougars continued to add to its lead building a 47-16 lead at the break. The Penguins finally found some momentum in the second half as Faasolo scored the first five points for Dominican to spark a 9-2 run.
The lead proved to be insurmountable however as the closest the Penguins could get in the second half was 21 after 4-unanswered points from
Muirae Gomez.
Dominican will return home to host Fresno Pacific on Thursday at 5:30 p.m. PST at the Conlan Center.
