Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Pengs fall to Cougars in three sets

SAN RAFAEL, Calif.- Dominican women's volleyball welcomed in the Cougars of Azusa Pacific University Saturday afternoon to conclude a two-game home stand. Junior Avery Schneider led the offense for the Pengs in this one slamming home 11 kills while freshman Kali Young coming off a career high in kills last night against FPU was right behind Schneider with 10 kills.

The Cougars started hot winning the first set, but in the second Dominican made them earn every point. Senior Rein Bocage was everywhere on the court leading the defense with a game high 20 digs. Today's match marked Bocage's 12th consecutive game with 10 or more digs. Young was one dig shy of going for a double-double as she was second on the team with nine. Fellow senior Camille Rivers continued to feed her teammates dishing out 27 assists against the Cougars.

The Pengs took a four-point lead midway through the second set, but APU marched back to make it close. Graduate student Reagan Macha came up big in the clutch when she slammed home a kill to tie things up at 25 then she called her number again to give the Pengs the 26-25 lead. APU would come back to close out the second set and ultimately the third for the victory.

Dominican will be back in action Nov. 13th at 6:30 p.m. against Academy of Art.
