SANTA BARBARA, Calif.- Dominican women's soccer team faced a challenging match against Westmont College, ultimately falling 4-0 after a strong effort on both ends of the pitch. Westmont took the lead early, scoring in the 24th minute and finding the net again in the 41st minute to head into halftime up 2-0.
The Penguins struggled to create offensive chances in the first half, recording zero shots, while Dominican goalkeeper
Natalie Haro worked hard between the posts, facing seven shots and recording two saves. The Warriors continued to apply pressure in the second half, receiving a penalty kick in the 50th minute to extend their lead to 3-0.
Westmont capped off their scoring in the 69th minute with a fourth goal. Dominican fought to make their mark on the scoreboard, with
Carmi Dotario making two shot attempts, including one just left of the post in the 76th minute.
Araceli Mejia also generated a solid chance in the 79th minute, but Westmontt's goalkeeper, Ellie Ludwig, came up with a crucial save to preserve the shutout.
