SAN DIEGO, Calif.- Dominican women's volleyball continued their SoCal road-trip Friday night as they clashed with the Sea Lions of Point Loma Nazarene University. The Penguins fought until the final whistle, but it was the Sea Lions who came out victorious in this one winning three sets to zero.
Facing the top team in the conference is no easy task, but the Penguins made the Sea Lions work for every point and found a weak spot in PLNU's defense. Dominican had more aces than their opponent with junior
Avery Schneider collecting a couple followed by
Camille Rivers and
Kendal Kibanoff. Schneider also led the offensive attack for the Pengs slamming home seven on the night. Graduate student
Reagan Macha and sophomore's
Ashlyn Daugherty and
Braenwynne Matthews were right behind her with five kills each.
Rivers, the Vacaville native, was busy all night as she finished with a double-double. She dished out 19 assists to go along with 11 digs. This now marks her 12
th consecutive match with more than double-digit assists. Freshman
Chloe Cruz was second on the team racking up seven assists. The youngster has been a sponge around the senior Rivers this season soaking up all the knowledge she can.
Dominican will be back on the court tomorrow as they wrap up their road-trip with a match against Vanguard at 2 p.m.
