SAN FRANCISCO – Dominican women's tennis concluded its rainy, ever changing pair of matches with a 4-1 loss to Metro State on Tuesday at Bay Club South San Francisco Tennis & Pickleball.
The Roadrunners (10-5) took the early advantage as Kambra Roles and Lilly Stienemeier claimed No. 3 doubles 6-2. The remaining two matches went back and forth with both reach a 6-6 tie. Isabel Heras and Kinsey Fields were the first to finish as the pair handed
Audrey Rafols and
Gina Dudley of Dominican their first loss in six matches 7-6 (4) to give MSU Denver the 1-0 team lead.
Stienemeier added to the Roadrunners lead with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over
Hannah Lam-Truong in No. 5 singles. Rafols responded for Dominican as she moved to 9-1 on the season with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Marie Cool on the top court. Fields then topped
Zoe Coggins 6-3, 1-6, 10-4 in No. 3 singles to put MSU Denver within a singles match of the team victory. Hanna Haber delivered the clinching point as she claimed No. 4 singles 6-0, 2-6, 6-1. Dominican was leading in the final two singles matches that were left unfinished.
Dominican will return to the Bay Club on Friday as it takes on Academy of Art at 10 a.m. PDT.
