Dominican University of California (4-4) dropped its first of two Texas spring break matchups against SMU (6-1) by a score of 17-16 in overtime.

Maxwell Pierce led the offensive way with five goals and four assists on the day while junior long stick midfielder
Noah Gibson led the way defensively with eight ground balls and an assist.

Things started off hot for the Penguins, going up 2-0 in the first couple minutes of the game led by a great effort from sophomore captain
Kenny Seiler who finished the game with three goals and a pair of assists. The defense made several gritty plays to get stops and turnovers, highlighted by junior defenseman
Travis Jones who helped his squad earn a 5-4 advantage after one quarter of play.

The start of the second quarter mirrored that of the first quarter with a goal coming from junior midfielder
James Walker, his first of four goals. Freshmen Cole scored his first goal of his career off an assist from Noah Walker to put the Penguins 10-8 at half time.

Ethan May needed just one face off to collect his first win of the half at the draw adding to his 12 total wins on the day. The third quarter saw the Mustangs with much of the momentum as the home team turned the tide on Dominican with the two teams knotted at 12 aside heading into the final quarter of play. The final frame was a back and forth affair between the two sides with Pierce showing his clutch capabilities, burying two of his five goals in the fourth stanza. Freshman goalie
Tristan Hunter earned an eventual 51.4 save percentage behind 17 saves, but the teams would need extra time to settle the score with the stat sheet reading 16-16 after 60 minutes of play.

Dominican forced a penalty in the early stages of overtime, giving the Penguin offense a chance to seal the deal but a turnover resulted in a fast break goal by SMU, giving them the 17-16 victory.

Dominican University of California (4-5) dropped its final game of its spring break trip, this time a 16-8 loss to The University of Texas (3-1).

The Penguin offense took some time to find its footing in the first quarter, needing 10 minutes to find the back of the net before adding another minutes later. The defense rose to the occasion by only letting in four as Dominican trailed 4-2 after 15 minutes. The second quarter also had a slow start but Pierce captained his crew who tallied a pair of goals in the quarter. The faceoff unit kept an even pace throughout the whole game with senior
Mitchell Sanders going  2-for-2 at the draw while Hunter collected 12 saves in the first half but the Penguins trailed 8-4 heading into the locker rooms.
Dominican saw early success in the second half with Nahidi netting a goal to add to this three total points on the afternoon after Walker sent him a beautiful feed in the slot. The defensive forced several turnovers with Jones collecting five found balls on the day but the team still trailed going into the final frame with the Longhorns holding a 12-6 lead. The final quarter saw Dominican add two more, both coming from Seiler, as sophomore
Ray Sugiyama also collected five found balls but Dominican would eventually fall by a score of 16-8.
