Dominican women's volleyball hosted Academy of Art on Saturday night in what was dubbed the "Gold Rush" match at Conlan Center. The first 200 students in attendance that wore gold Dominican gear received food from Forrest BBQ.
The Urban Knights came out the gates strong winning the first two sets, and for a moment thought they were going to get the sweep. Sophomore
Jasmine Heyward who has come on strong as of late led the Penguins with her energy in the third set. She collected multiple blocks and kills in the third set which put Academy of Art on their heels.
Dominican won the third set, 25-22. Heyward finished the match swatting three blocks and collecting six kills. The Penguins dominated in the blocks department coming down with 10 compared to five for the Urban Knights.

Amani Abed led Dominican in blocks with five on the night. Abed's five blocks is a season-high for her. Graduate student
Edee Leslie and junior
Ella Heckman were tied for the team lead in kills with nine a piece.
The Penguins will now hit the road to the Aloha state where they will square off against the Hawaii teams starting with Hawaii Hilo on Nov. 8
th at 10 p.m.
