Dominican women's basketball won a non-conference matchup with Cal State East Bay on Tuesday night 81 to 69. The Penguins were led by the duo of
Keyonee Neal and
Jenna Duley who dropped 20 and 19 points which resulted in a huge second half for Dominican.
This game was tight from the first tip with the Pioneers leading most of the first half. The bench for Dominican which has been strong to start the season, was the x-factor of the night. Senior
Olga Faasolo posted her best game of the young season going for 14 points while collecting eight rebounds which led all bench scorers. The Penguins bench outscored the Pioneers 28 to 9.
The Pioneers held a four-point lead as both teams went into the lockers for half-time. In the second half, the dynamic duo of Neal and Duley began to dominate. Neal was too much for the Pioneers defense driving to the basket time and time again finishing with some fancy lay-ups. The Rohnert Park native also swatted away a game-high three blocks.
Duley was the floor general for the Penguins in the second half commanding the offense. She also drained a trio of three-pointers when the Pioneers failed to close out on her from behind the arc.
Juniors
Andraya Perez and
Mikayla Amoroso helped Faasolo run the second unit scoring critical buckets down the stretch in the second half.
