Jessica Malazarte notched the first eight Sunbirds points as she connected on a pair of 3's and a mid-range jumper, helping Fresno Pacific to an early lead.
Errayanna Hatfield would help erase the early deficit when she hit a driving layup just under three minutes into the game, advancing the score to 12-10.
Hailey Stewart, starting her first game as a collegiate athlete, gave Dominican its first lead of the afternoon when she connected on a jumper with 5:43 remaining in the first half, a lead that grew to five after Razo drained a jumper of her own. Fresno Pacific regained the lead before the half with a pair of foul shots before the buzzer sounded, earning a 37-35 advantage at half.
The Sunbirds increased their lead almost immediately in the third quarter, needing just 4:34 to earn a nine-point lead. Razo connected on one of her two 3's on the afternoon to bring the game back within six before draining a jumper on her return trip down the court, cutting the Sunbird lead to 47-43.
Fresno Pacific would again enjoy a nine-point advantage when Felicia Dourva connected on a shot late in the third quarter, but a trio of
Camryn Figueroa points would bring Dominican back to a six point. With one quarter remaining, Dominican trailed 53-47.
Dominican fought back from a fourth quarter 13-point deficit, but its late push would prove to be not enough as Fresno Pacific led for the majority of the final frame before walking out with a 71-62 win.
Razo played every minute en route to her near double-double, while Figueroa, Stewart and Hatfield all earn double-digit points with 11, 10 and 10, respectively.
Brittney Cedeno earned a team-high five assists, including a pair of cross-court passes that resulted in Dominican buckets in the fourth, while also earning seven rebounds.
Dominican will look to bounce back on Tuesday when they travel to play the Academy of Art. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m. PST.
