Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Penguins unable to overcome Urban Knights

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Dominican men's soccer fell 2-0 Sunday afternoon to Academy of Art at Kennelly Field.

Sophomore goalkeeper Alejandro Reyes was tested throughout the day and came up with a career-high eight saves for the Penguins (1-3, 1-3 PacWest). Junior forward Edgard Morazan and sophomore Elias Muro accounted for Dominican's two shots on goal. 

The Urban Knights (3-2, 3-2 PacWest) jumped ahead early when Adrian Cekala faked a shot found Breki Einarsson on the right side of the box for the goal in the seventh minute. The Penguins pushed back and earned a corner within a minute and Muro was able to find room to get off a shot in the 11th minute, but ART U's Davis King as there to make the save. The Urban Knights were able to pressure offensively over the last 25 minutes of the half, but Reyes was there to collect four saves to keep Dominican within striking distance heading to the break.

The teams traded chances early in the second half with Gilli Kristjansson putting a shot on frame for ART U in the 49th minute, but Reyes once again made the stop for the Penguins. Edgard Morazan sent a shot towards the bottom-right corner in the 53rd minute looking for the equalizer, but King made the save. In the 73rd minute, after a contested header Gilly Miller loosed a shot from 30-yards out and beat Reyes for the final margin of 2-0.

Dominican will return to the pitch Thursday as it hosts Fresno Pacific at 2:30 p.m. PST at Kennelly Field. Live stats and video will be available online.
