SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Dominican women's tennis picked up where it left off last year with a 5-0 victory over William Jessup to open the 2021 season Wednesday at Castellucci Family Tennis Center.

Haley Garcia had a strong start for the Penguins (1-0) as they quickly claimed the first doubles victory of the dual match 6-1 over the Warriors' (0-1) Ryanda Guerrero and Karen Ramos-Paglino. Senior
Amber Del Rosario and freshman
Zoe Coggins overcame an early deficit to claim the last four games of a 6-3 victory which gave Dominican the 1-0 lead heading to singles.
Coggins was the first to claim a singles match with a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Guerrero on court three. Senior
Nicole Bermudez finished close behind with a 6-1, 6-0 victory while Alajeely clinched the team victory for the Penguins after a 6-1, 6-1 victory in No. 2 singles. Del Rosario capped off the sweep with a 6-2, 6-2 victory over William Jessup's Aysha Hayes.
Dominican will return to the court Saturday to take on conference rival Academy of Art at 10 a.m. PST at Castellucci Family Tennis Center.
