SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Dominican women's tennis showed little rust after a week off as it swept Mills College 7-0 Friday afternoon at Castellucci Family Tennis Center.
"It was a solid match for us today," head coach
Cristina Visico said. "We hope to carry that momentum with us into our match tomorrow."
Michelle Li and
Ofelia Lopez Camarena started the Penguins (2-2) dominance on the day with a 6-0 win in No. 1 doubles before
Alexandria Rogers and
Nicole Bermudez finished close behind them with a 6-0 victory on the third court.
Taylor Lim and
Kamar Alajeely completed the clean doubles sweep with a 6-0 victory over the Cyclones' (0-6) Ashley Tesmer and Jada Temple.
Madison Giannetto recorded her first singles victory at Dominican defeating Cesaria Caetano 6-0, 6-0 in No. 6 singles. Fellow freshmen
Haley Garcia and Alajeely each added 6-0, 6-0 victories to secure the team victory.
The Penguins continued to roll as Li and
Taylor Lim tallied 6-0, 6-0 victories and Bermudez sealed the sweep with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Jada Temple on court five.
Dominican will return to the court Saturday as it heads south to take on UC Santa Cruz at 2 p.m. PST at the UCSC Tennis Courts.
