ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – Dominican women's tennis fell 5-2 to Sonoma State in its season opener Saturday afternoon at SSU Tennis Courts.

Cristina Visico said. "It was a close match against one of the tougher teams in our conference. I think that may be the closest we've played them during my time here."
The Seawolves got off to a strong start as Sasha Turchak and Amber Huk took No. 1 doubles 6-0 and Jenna DeTurk and Tiani Jadulang added a 6-1 victory in No. 3 doubles for the team point.

Ofelia Lopez Camarena handed Dominican its first point of the match as she won No. 3 singles 6-2, 6-2 over Carolina Alfonsin. Turchack held off a Dominican's
Taylor Lim 6-2, 6-4 to secure the match victory on the top court for the Seawolves.
Michelle Li added the first singles victory of her senior season 6-3, 7-5 over SSU's Amber Huk. Freshman
Kamar Alajeely was in a heated battle with Hannah Highsmith in No. 4 singles. Highsmith took the first set 6-3, but Alajeely responded with a 6-2 victory in the second set to force a tiebreaker set. The third set went back-and-forth between the two, but Highsmith was able to edge Alajeely 10-8 to finish the match.
Dominican will rest up before its home-opener Saturday against Stanislaus State at noon PST at Castellucci Family Tennis Center.
