SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Senior forward Natalie Diaz repeated as the Pacific West Conference Player of the Year as announced by the conference office Wednesday following a vote by coaches.

Diaz has been a force all season for the Penguins (21-5, 18-4 PacWest) with 11 double-doubles and 30-point games this season. She is the top scorer in the conference and ranked No. 2 nationally in points per game at 26.5. She is also fourth in the conference in rebounds at 8.8 per game and in blocked shots with 1.42. In addition, Diaz was named First Team All-PacWest.
 
Senior guard Alanna Scott joined Diaz as an all-conference selection landing on the second team. Scott is fifth in the conference and No. 100 nationally in scoring at 16.2 points per game and leads the conference in 3-point shooting percentage at 38.4 percent. On the defensive end, Scott averaged 1.88 steals per game, good for No. 8 in the PacWest. 

Dominican also held steady in the latest rounds of the regional rankings at No. 8 with its best record as a member of the NCAA Division II at the end of the regular season. The Penguins need one more victory to tie the 2013-14 men's basketball team for the most wins in the programs D2 era. Azusa Pacific joined the Penguins on the regional rankings at No. 4 with Hawai'i Pacific holding steady at No. 10.

Dominican is hosting the PacWest Basketball Championships this weekend with its first game coming Friday at 5 p.m. PST against the winner of Thursday's contest between Hawai'i Pacific and Concordia University Irvine. Live stats and video will be available online.
