OAKLAND, Calif. – Dominican women's tennis fell 6-1 to Holy Names University on Saturday at Meyer Tennis Courts.
The Hawks (7-5) got off to a strong start with Macy Barajas and Symone Jacques winning 6-2 in No. 3 doubles and Jahan Bayramova and Dominique Ernst claiming the top court 6-3 for the doubles point. Seniors

Alex Wartenberg continued to be the bright spot in doubles for the Penguins (3-8) as they held off their HNU counterparts 7-5 to notch their fifth consecutive doubles victory.
Ernst put the momentum back with the Hawks after a 6-0, 6-2 victory in No. 2 singles and Barajas made it 3-0 after she claimed a 6-1, 6-4 victory on the fourth court. Lady Baglaeva sealed the victory for HNU with a 6-2, 6-3 victory on the top court. Wartenberg claimed the lone singles victory for Dominican after Jacques retired early. Wartenberg is currently on a five-match winning streak as well.
Dominican will return home Thursday to take on No. 31 UC San Diego at 11 a.m. PDT at the Castellucci Family Tennis Center.
