ROHNERT PARK, Calif. – Dominican women's soccer fell 1-0 Saturday to Humboldt State at Seawolf Soccer Field.,
The backlines for both teams imposed their will and kept scoring threats to a minimum. Junior
Alyssa Ramos had one save for the Penguins (0-1-1) to go with one defensive team save. Nora Goodrie and her backline also had a save apiece for the Jacks (1-1-0).
Freshman
Kaitlyn Haub had the first scoring chance of the game for either team putting a ball on frame, but the Humboldt State defense was able to clear the ball before it could cross the goal line in the 17th minute. Jensen Smith answered for the Jacks with a similar opportunity four minutes later on the other side of the field, but this time it was the Penguins backline that kept the net clean.
Alex Jenkins broke the scoreless tie in the 38th minute as she took on Ramos one-on-one and chipped it over her for the 1-0 lead.
Alyssa Campbell looked to even the score in the 60th minute, but Goodrie made the save as the Jacks went on to take the victory.
