HAYWARD, Calif. – Dominican women's soccer fell 2-1 Wednesday afternoon to Cal State East Bay at Pioneer Stadium as the teams combined to score all three goals in the second half.
Alyssa Ramos led the Penguins (0-2-1) in the net with four saves despite taking the loss. Brianna Vasquez-Ortiz earned the victory for the Pioneers (3-0-0) with one save.
CSUEB applied earlier pressure on Dominican's backline with two shots on goal in the first 10 minutes of the game, but Ramos denied the chances and added a third save in the 16th minute. The Penguins launched a counter attack after Ramos's third save and
Bailey Kiser put the ball on frame in the 17th minute, but Vasquez-Ortiz collected her only save of the match as the teams went into the half tied 0-0.
Dominican struck first in the second half as

Michelle Li for her first goal of the season in the 53rd minute and a 1-0 lead. Abby Bultrago tied the game 12 minutes later off an assist from Eliana Mendoza. The Pioneers struck again 50 seconds later off the foot of Lauren McDougal for the 2-1 lead.
Dominican was able to earn corners in the 77th and 82nd minute as they searched for the equalizer, but the Penguins were unable to get through the CSUEB defense.
Dominican will return home for the first time this season to take on Chico State at noon PDT at Kennelly Field. Live stats and video will be available online.
