SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Dominican women's tennis swept American River College 9-0 Saturday at the Castellucci Family Tennis Center to bounce back from a loss Friday to Academy of Art.
Savannah Gray and
Nicole Bermudez set the tone for the Penguins (2-2) opening the match with an 8-0 victory over their Otter (3-1) opponents in No. 3 doubles.
Skyler Schaar and
Rickimae Torres were close behind with an 8-0 win of their own on court one over Viktoriya Lavor and Kirsten Chrisco.
Kaitlyn Nguyen and
Taylor Lim closed out the doubles sweep holding off Lilana Spindler and Eva Spindler of American River for an 8-6 win.
Nguyen claimed the first team point of singles with a 6-2, 6-0 victory over Chrisco and Schaar continued the momentum grabbing a dominate 6-0, 6-1 victory over Lavor. With the team victory secure, Lim added a 6-1, 6-3 victory on court five and Torres claimed a 6-1, 6-3 victory over E. Spindler in No. 1 singles.
Bermudez was the only perfect Penguin on the day as she followed her doubles sweep with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep in singles.
Savannah Gray finished things off with a 6-2, 7-6 (6) victory on court four.
Dominican will look to start a winning streak as it travels to Oakland, California, to face Mills College at 2 p.m. PST Friday.
