Box Score ST. GEORGE, Utah -- Dominican men's basketball fell to Dixie State 71-52 Friday night at the Burns Center.

Jeremiah Gray once again led the Penguins (3-10, 2-4 PacWest) with 19 points in the game. Freshman
Christian Futch flirted with a double-double, finishing with nine points, 12 rebounds and three assists. Trevor Hill led the Trailblazers (8-6, 5-2 PacWest) with 15 points, six rebounds and six assists.

Dominican finished shooting 33.3 percent from the field, while Dixie State hit 45.9 percent of their shots. The Penguins had seven steals and forced 16 turnovers, but the Trailblazers made a huge impact in the paint with 44 points.

An early layup by junior
Cedric Thomas allowed Dominican to take the lead 10-9, a lead that would last a good portion of the first half. The Penguins' biggest lead came with 11:30 left in the first half, as a three-pointer hit by freshman Chris Williams II extended the margin by seven points.

However, despite five early turnovers from Dixie State in the first seven minutes, the Trailblazers would take back the lead 32-25 with 3:00 left. The Penguins, led by a quick five points from Gray, would end the first half tied with the Trailblazers 32-32.

While the Penguins kept the first half close, the second half all belonged to the Trailblazers. Before Dixie State's 14-0 run with 10:28 left, they held Dominican to 2-17 shooting from the field. A couple of free throws from Thomas eventually ended the Trailblazers' series, but the Penguins would not be able to catch up.
