Austen McGregor scored the first goal of the match after Pacific Union's Darian Roberts mishandled
Tanner Herrero's through ball in the 15th minute and McGregor slotted it home. Pacific Union responded in the 34th minute after
Wyatt Walsh hit the Pioneer's Nathan Diaz as he tried to clear a ball in the box, and Diaz settled the ball to score in the empty net.

In the 34th minute,
Wilson Briggs stole a ball from a defender, made a 360 spin between two defenders and beat Roberts one-on-one to the near post to give the Penguins back the lead for good.

In the second half, Dominican had multiple chances to score on goal and extend their lead. Briggs had a shot from the close right wing that was saved by Darian Roberts in the 50th minute. Junior
Colin Gunby had a couple of shots on the left and right wing in the 74th and 75th minute, both saved by Roberts. Briggs had one more chance on a breakaway in the 78th minute, but his shot went just to the right of the net.
