Box Score SAN RAFAEL, Calif. – Dominican women's basketball pulled away in the second half against Central Washington on Saturday, winning 90-79 in the Conlan Center for their sixth straight victory.

Sandra Ikeora and junior Natalie Diaz led the Penguins (9-2), each finishing with a double-double. Ikeora tallied 34 points and 19 rebounds for her 11
th double-double in as many games this season while Diaz added 26 points and 13 rebounds. Junior Alanna Scott also finished in double-figures, chipping in with 14 points on 6-9 shooting. Sadie Mensing led the Wildcats (5-5) with 24 points.
Scott broke a 5-5 tie in the first quarter as Ikeora fought for a loose ball and found Scott all by herself for a breakaway layup. Junior Vanessa Cruz then found Scott for her second fast break basket in a row as Dominican moved ahead 9-5. Junior Anjelica Collins later snapped a 13-13 tie with a 3-pointer, helping Dominican to a 21-17 lead heading into the second.
After the Penguins fell behind late in the second quarter, Ikeora cut the deficit to 34-33 with a layup and Scott later brought them back within one once again with a 3-pointer. Dominican took a brief lead back in the final minute before the break as Ikeora found Cruz floating along the baseline for an easy basket, putting the Penguins ahead 38-37. Mensing answered quickly for the Wildcats, knocking down a 3-pointer to give Central Washington a 40-38 lead at the half.
Taylor Baird hit a turnaround jumper to give the Wildcats a 47-42 lead early in the third quarter but Dominican responded with their key run in the game. Ikeora put in a layup and Scott buried a corner 3-pointer to tie it back up. Diaz then went to work in the post, finishing over a Central Washington defender to put the Penguins ahead. Cruz intercepted a pass and found Ikeora on the break to extend the lead to 53-47. Diaz then put the ball on the floor and finished an and-1, capping a 13-0 run for Dominican and giving them a 56-47 advantage. Ikeora completed a three-point play in the final minute of the frame, giving the Penguins a 71-53 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Diaz opened the scoring in the fourth, going coast-to-coast after a defensive rebound and finishing in the paint as Dominican's lead ballooned to 20. As Central Washington looked to make a run, freshman Julia Razo helped stop their momentum with a mid-range jumper, putting the Penguins ahead 79-62. The Wildcats kept coming, trimming their deficit to 12 on a steal and layup from Alexis Pana. The Penguins were able to hold them off from there, never allowing Central Washington to get back within single digits.
Dominican takes the court again Saturday as part of a PacWest double-header as the Penguins host Point Loma. The women's game tips at 2:00 p.m. and the men's game is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. Live stats and video will be available online.
