Box Score SAN RAFAEL, Calif. -- Dominican's men soccer played in a seesaw battle with Azusa Pacific, but fell 2-1 to the Cougars on a late goal Saturday afternoon at Kennelly Field.

All three goals came in the second period. The Penguins (3-6, 0-5 PacWest Conference) were outshot by the Cougars (2-7-1, 2-3-1 PacWest Conference) 16-11 and 7-4 in shots on goal.

Dominican played strong defense in the first half and freshman
Wyatt Walsh made several fantastic saves to keep Azuza Pacific from scoring in the first half. Walsh prevented a goal by Rene Santos in the 15th minute with a diving save and Santos attempt at the rebound went high.

Sophomore
Luke Raley had two shots in the first six minutes of play, the second shot on goal, but it was saved by Cougars goalie Nathaniel Linquist. Juniors
Wilson Briggs and
Colin Gunby led the Penguins with three shots apiece in the game, with Gunby having two shots on goal.

Aleksandar Pumpalovic opened the scoring for the Cougars in the 59th minute as he beat Walsh to a through ball and put in the net for the 1-0 lead. The Penguins responded in the 71st minute when an Azusa Pacific defender fell and senior
Austen McGregor put a through ball from junior
Damian Cortez inside the far post to tie the game.

With overtime looming, Azuza Pacific was awarded a penalty kick on a handball inside the box and Kaleb Armbrust put it in the net for a 2-1 lead in the 87th minute. Gunby had Dominican's last attempt to try to tie, but the shot went high.
