The Penguins (4-8, 1-5 PacWest) outshot the Hawks (2-8-1, 2-3-1 PacWest) 13-8 and held a slim 5-4 margin in shots on goal shots.
Christian Lathrop made four saves to earn his second shutout of the season.

In the 54th minute,
Luke Raley took the ball down the right side of the box and passed to the middle where
Austen McGregor turned and crossed the ball into the 6-yard box and
Diego Vasquez put it into an empty net for the only goal of the game.

Holy Names had two chances to tie in the final 20 seconds of the game, but Lathrop pushed aside the first attempt and punched the ensuing corner out of harm's way with seconds remaining to preserve the victory.

Hernan Mercado recorded two shots on goal early in the game for the Hawks, but Lathrop made the save in the 15th minute and 23rd minute for the Penguins.

Luke Raley had the first shot on goal for the Penguins in the 27th minute and
Damian Cortez added another four minutes later, but neither beat Juan Nieves for the goal.
