Matt Hayes,
Christopher Schwartz-Edmisten, and
Allyssa Weatherd were named the 2016 Dominican Student-Athletes of the Year. Hayes and Schwartz-Edmisten share the men's honor while Weatherd earned the women's honor.
Hayes was named to CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 Basketball First Team for a second season in a row. He garnered All-PacWest Honorable Mention, as well as PacWest Player of the Week honors twice during the season. Hayes scored a career-high 30 points in a win at MSU Billings on Nov. 27 and finishes his career as Dominican's all-time leader (DII era) in points (1,226), field goals made and attempted, three-point field goals made and attempted, rebounds, games started, and minutes.
Schwartz-Edmisten was also named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 Basketball First Team. He was named to the All-PacWest Third Team and PacWest Player of the Week for the week of Nov. 30-Dec. 6. Schwartz-Edmisten was nominated for the 2016 Allstate NABC Good Works Team®. He earned a place on the PacWest/CCAA Challenge All-Tournament Team Nov. 13-14. He scored his 1,000th career point on Feb. 13 at CBU and is Dominican's all-time leader (DII era) in three-point field goal percentage, is second in field-goals made and attempted behind Hayes, and third in points.
Weatherd led the Penguins to a PacWest Championships semifinals appearance. She was named to the D2CCA All-West Region Second Team and All-PacWest First Team. She was named USBWA Women's Division II National Player of the Week and PacWest Player of the Week during the season. Weathered became the first Dominican women's basketball player in the DII era to score 1,000 points with a 20-point first half in the first round of the PacWest Championships First Round versus HPU. She went on to tally career-highs of 37 points and 14 rebounds in that game. Her 37 points set both PacWest Championships and Dominican program single-game scoring records and garnered her HERO of the Week and Performance of the YEAR from HERO Sports News. She was also named to the PacWest Championships All-Tournament Team and UCSD Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team. She finished 15th in the nation in NCAA Division II and led the PacWest in field goal percentage (57.8 percent), was second in the nation in free throws attempted (258) and was fourth in free throws made (178). Weatherd finishes her career as Dominican's all-time leader (DII era) in points (1,038), scoring average (18.9 ppg), field goal percentage (56.7 percent), free throws made (325) and attempted (480), rebounding average (7.3 rpg), and minutes average (34.7 mpg). This season she has set program single-season records for points scored (575), scoring average (19.8 ppg), field goals made (197), free throws made and attempted, minutes (1039), and minutes average (35.8 mpg).

Jessy Marshall was named Senior Female Scholar-Athlete of the Year and lacrosse player Cody Bernstein was named Male Senior Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Soccer player

Drew Nelson was named Junior Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
