SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California softball team fell 8-1 to No. 19 Sonoma State on Wednesday in non-conference action.

Ashlyn Moriarity (0-1) worked out of jams in the first three innings and left a runner stranded at third in each of those frame but found trouble in the fourth inning. The Seawolves got a big two-out rally with three RBI singles, then a bases-clearing double and had a 6-0 lead.
Gaby Katafias came in and relief to end the rally. She went three and a third innings and gave up an RBI double in the sixth and an unearned run in the seventh.
Tori Johnson had a 3-for-4 day for the Penguins and is now hitting a team-best .387.
Game two was suspended due to rain before an out was recorded. That game will be resumed at a date to be determined.
