ST. GEORGE, Utah — The Dominican University of California women's volleyball team notched a 3-1 (25-18, 22-25, 25-23, 26-24) road victory at Dixie State on Saturday to move into a second-place tie in the PacWest.
No. 25 Concordia (23-2/14-2 PacWest) took sole possession of first place with a 3-2 victory over California Baptist (17-6/12-3 PacWest), who is now tied with the Penguins (16-7/12-3 PacWest). With the loss, Dixie State (15-9/11-5 PacWest) is in fifth place behind Hawai'i Pacific (15-9/11-4 PacWest).
The match was tight throughout. Dominican used a 5-1 run midway through set one to take a 17-14 lead and capitalized on four consecutive Trailblazers errors to grab the early match lead. Dominican got off to a slow start in set two but was able to tie the set at 20-20. The Penguins made three consecutive errors though and the set was quickly tied at 1-1. The Penguins were close to facing a 2-1 deficit after the Trailblazers grabbed a 23-22 lead in set three but the Penguins grabbed the momentum with the next three points. Dixie State led 21-18 in set four and had set point, 24-21, but the Penguins rallied yet again. Kills from

Aimee Steinwand pulled the Penguins within a point and a Malary Marshall attack error tied the set at 24-24. Steinwand's match-leading 16th kill set up match point and Steinwand and Even were there for the match-winning block.
Senior
Madeline Powelson added 13 kills and 13 digs for her 12th double-double of the season. Sophomore
Brittany Latigue added 10 kills in the win. Senior libero
Amanda Lee led all players with 30 digs and moved into the PacWest lead with 5.72 digs per set. Senior setter
Hannah Smith dished out 44 assists. Even matched a career-high eight blocks.
Delayne Daniel led the Trailblazers with 15 kills and added 15 digs. Sidney Brandon had 25 digs in the loss.
After going 4-1 on the road across Hawaii, California, and Utah, the Penguins return home for three matches beginning Friday, Nov. 11 at 7 p.m. versus Point Loma.
