Defense dominates in draw with Fresno Pacific

SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's soccer team battled to a 0-0 draw on Friday versus Fresno Pacific in PacWest action.

With the tie, FPU (5-3-1/3-1-1 PacWest) moves into a three-way tie for first place while Dominican (2-4-4/1-2-2) moves ahead of California Baptist in the standings.

The Penguins held the Sunbirds scoreless despite 14 shots, nine on goal, from nine different players. Dominican's freshman goalkeeper, Alyssa Ramos, made a career-high nine saves and notched her second shutout of the season. Both teams failed to convert eight corner kicks. Five Penguins fired shots but freshman reserve Yvonne Martinez's attempt in the 77th minute was the only Penguins shot on goal.
