Second half proves costly at Concordia

IRVINE, Calif. — The Dominican University of California men's soccer team fell 4-0 at Concordia on Thursday in PacWest action.

The Penguins (3-10-1/3-5-1 PacWest), who trailed 1-0 at the half, saw the deficit slip out of reach in the second half. Connor Gordon, who had a hand in all four Eagles goals, put the ball into play quickly after a Dominican foul, and Ether Bustos finished to the bottom left. Gordon scored on a penalty kick in the 71st minute and scored again three minutes later.

Dominican had some good opportunities but failed to convert. Mark Caliguire played a ball into Chase Whitfield, who flicked the ball to Luke Raley but Eagles goalkeeper Jordan Brinkley was there for the stop. Arturo Carrillo Contreras had a free kick from the top of the box with 20 minutes left but his shot sailed high.

Dominican heads to third-place California Baptist (9-4-0/5-3-0 PacWest) on Saturday, Oct. 22 at 11 a.m. Live stats will be provided by CBU and will be available at dominicanathletics.com/live. Live updates will also be available on the @dominican_ms Twitter account.
