IRVINE, Calif. — Dominican University of California men's basketball players
Matt Hayes and
Christopher Schwartz-Edmisten are this week's PacWest Men's Basketball Co-Players of the Week.
The senior sharpshooters combined for nearly half of Dominican's season-high 102 points in a win over Fresno Pacific, the fourth-straight for the Penguins. Each guard scored 25 points on nine field goals. Hayes was 6-for-9 from three-point range and eclipsed 1,000 career points. The Yuba City, California native also added nine rebounds and five assists. Schwartz-Edmisten was 4-for-5 from three-point range and had three assists and two steals. The Sacramento native was also nominated for the 2016 Allstate NABC Good Works Team® earlier in the week (Hayes was the team's 2015 nominee). Hayes (16.3 ppg) and Schwartz-Edmisten (16.1 ppg) rank ninth and 11th in the PacWest in scoring, respectively.
Dominican (5-2/1-0 PacWest) will now head to Northwest Nazarene on Saturday, Dec. 12 for a 2 p.m. non-conerence contest. After that, the Penguins return to the Bay Area for PacWest action versus Academy of Art on Thursday, Dec. 17 at historic Kezar Pavilion.
