IRVINE, Calif. — Dominican University of California senior men's basketball player
Matt Hayes has been named this week's PacWest Men's Basketball Co-Player of the Week. He sharees the honor with Dixie State's Trevor Hill. The awards are based on games played Nov. 23-29.
Hayes dominated the MSU Billings Thanksgiving Tournament, leading Dominican to two wins on the weekend to improve to 4-2. The Yuba City, Calif. averaged 24.0 points and 7.0 rebounds per game, shooting 68 percent from the field. He scored a career-high 30 points against MSUB, making 11 field goals and six three-pointers. He netted 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting and had two steals against Alaska.
Dominican returns home for its last home game of the calendar year on Saturday, Dec. 5. The Penguins open up PacWest play versus Fresno Pacific at 7:30 p.m., preceded by the women's game at 5:30 p.m. That is "White Ice Night," where fans are encouraged to wear white to the game.
