SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's volleyball recorded back-to-back victories with a 3-1 (19-25, 25-21, 25-14, 25-12) victory over Notre Dame de Namur in the Conlan Center on Saturday afternoon.
The Penguins (8-16/5-13 PacWest) avenged an earlier season loss to the Argonauts (11-18/7-13 PacWest) but looked in trouble of losing back-to-back matches to the Argos after dropping set one. Dominican came out swinging in set two and outscored the Argos 9-3 down the stretch en route to a .342 hitting percentage. The Penguins put on an even more impressive show of offense in set four, where they swung their way to a .423 hitting percentage. Three Penguins ended up in double digit kills, led by 16 from sophomore
Aimee Steinwand. Freshman
Brittany Latigue added 15 and sophomore
Shannon RiggioKerley added a dozen. Junior
Hannah Smith ran an efficient offense and distributed 51 assists. Junior libero
Amanda Lee led all players with 21 digs and had a career-high four service aces. Steinwand had a double-double with 15 digs, and junior
Madeline Powelson added 14 digs.
NDNU was led by 16 kills from Bianca Alvarez and 17 digs from libero Carina Quintero.
