Godoy, Alo score first career goals in loss at Fresno Pacific

FRESNO, Calif. — The Dominican University of California men's soccer team had its first multiple-goal match of the season on Wednesday but it wasn't nearly enough in a 7-2 loss at Fresno Pacific.

Alvaro Nogales scored his first two goals of the season for the first-place Sunbirds (7-1-2/4-0-1 PacWest) and FPU led 3-0 at halftime and led 5-0 thanks to Nogales' third goal of the night.

Dominican senior Joshua Godoy's first career goal came on a penalty kick in the 65th minute to get the Penguins on the board. Joey Belzil scored twice in the 74th minute to extend the FPU lead to 7-1. Sophomore Austen McGregor found freshman Micah Alo in the 78th minute for Alo's first career goal.

The Penguins actually outshot FPU 12-11 in the second half. It was a physical game that featured 35 fouls and seven yellow cards between the two teams.

Dominican will head to Belmont, California on Saturday, Oct. 10 to face Notre Dame de Namur (2-6/2-2 PacWest) at 2 p.m. Parking at NDNU will be limited on Saturday due to homecoming activites. Live stats will be available at dominicanathletics.com/live.
