HONOLULU, Hawaii — The Dominican University of California men's soccer team capped off its four-match trip to Hawaii with an epic 2-1 come-from-behind victory on Saturday at Chaminade.
Dominican (2-13/2-8 PacWest) trailed 1-0 at halftime after Ryan Arkelian put Chaminade (1-11/1-8 PacWest) up with a goal in the 43rd minute off of a rebound. The Silverswords led until the 57th minute. Senior
Cory Vanderpool continued to make an impact since his return from injury with an assist to
Matt Case, who netted a goal in a scrum in front of the net.
Dominican broke its six-match losing streak thanks to some late heroics. Freshman
Micah Alo, a Hawaiian native, found
Roberto Macias in another scrum for the game-winner.
It was a physical match with 27 fouls and five yellow cards handed out in the match. It was expected, as Dominican Head Coach
Zach Kingsley left Chaminade to return to the mainland.
Dominican will look to stay in the win column when the Penguins host Academy of Art on Saturday, Oct. 31. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m. Live stats and video will be available at
