LAIE, Hawaii — The Dominican University of California men's soccer team had two quick scoring opportunities but was unable to convert them in an eventual 1-0 loss at BYU-Hawaii on Thursday.
Freshman
Micah Alo had his shot in the 11th minute blocked and senior Josh Godoy's header in the 12th minute went wide right. Alo continued to apply the pressure with a shot in the 24th minute that was saved by BYUH (6-7/4-4 PacWest) goalkeeper Jaden Epplette.
Oscar O'Con made a season-high seven saves for the Penguins but was unable to stop Jacob McRae's header in the 71st minute.
Dominican had one more opportunity in the 77th minute but
Austen McGregor's shot sailed high.
Dominican (1-13-0/1-8-0 PacWest) will look to snap its six-match losing streak at Chaminade (1-10-0/1-7-0 PacWest) on Saturday, Oct. 24. Kickoff is slated for 2:30 p.m (5:30 p.m. Pacific). There is sure to be an instant rivalry since Dominican Head Coach
