HILO, Hawaii — The Dominican University of California men's soccer team's struggles continued in Hawaii on Saturday as the Penguins fell 3-0 at UH Hilo.
The Vulcans (3-9/2-5 PacWest) scored twice in the first half, on goals in the 33rd and 38th minutes. Trenton Hooper assisted on both, to Evan Bacani and Omar Machado. Christian Ruelas found Alejandro Patino in the 86th minute for an insurance goal.
Dominican (1-11/1-6 PacWest) was limited to five shots, two on goal. Sophomore
Chase Goulart's shot in the sixth minute was saved, as was junior
Roberto Macias' header in the 33rd. Redshirt freshman
Oscar O'Con made four saves but took the loss.
Dominican has Sunday off before returning to action on Monday, Oct. 19 at 3 p.m. versus Hawai'i Pacific. The match has been moved from Atherton Field to Waipio Peninsula Soccer Park Field 5. Both admission and parking are free.
