Physical match decided by PK in final ten minutes

Chris Sennes and the Penguins found themselves on the losing side of a physical game on Saturday.
Box Score CALDWELL, Idaho — For the second time this season, the Dominican University of California men's soccer team found itself on the wrong side of a penalty kick, falling 1-0 to the College of Idaho.

Neither team scored in the first half. In the 31st minute, Dominican (0-4-1) was called for a foul in the box but goalie Erik Anderson guessed correctly on Joao Cardoso's penalty kick and made a diving save to keep the Coyotoes (3-1) off the board.

The physical game resulted in 33 fouls and nine yellow cards. A costly Dominican foul in the box in the 81st minute set the stage for a second penalty kick and this time the Coyotes capitalize. Nate Hunt's ball went into the right corner of the net and stood up as the game-winner.

Dominican's best scoring opportunity came in the 67th minute with a left-footed one-timer from Alex Herrera, who missed just high and left of the frame. Bryan Note also had a pair of shots on goal but both were saved by C of I goalie John French.

The Penguins have now lost three matches by one goal. They'll look for their first victory on Tuesday, Sept. 16 at San Francisco State in their last non-conference match of the season. Kickoff is slated for 1:00 p.m.
