Turnovers negate early lead in women's basketball loss to Point Loma

Carly Holboke scored a career-high 14 points and knocked down four three-pointers in Saturday's loss to Point Loma.
Box Score SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's basketball team committed a season-high 27 turnovers as the Penguins fell 78-46 to visiting Point Loma in Saturday afternoon's Pacific West Conference contest.

Freshman Carly Holboke went 3-of-4 in the first half and the Penguins (0-8/0-2) led by as much as six in the first half but 18 turnovers before halftime led to a 14-point run by the Sea Lions (4-4/1-2) and a 33-23 halftime deficit,

Holboke, who came off the bench, drained nine points in a row for Dominican at one point with a trio of three-pointers. She finished with a career-high 14 points and four three-pointers made. Jessy Marshall added 11 points and Jasmine Cox added seven points in the loss.

Callie Rhoads was singlehandedly the difference in the game. She poured in 30 points for the Sea Lions on 11-of-17 shooting, including 7-of-11 from three-point land.

Dominican hits the road for its first PacWest road game of the season on Saturday, Dec. 14, a 6:00 p.m. contest versus Academy of Art University at Kezar Pavilion.
