Second-half surge not enough in women's basketball loss at Alaska Fairbanks

Melissa Boscarino recorded a career-high 15 points in a Thanksgiving loss to Alaska Fairbanks.
Box Score FAIRBANKS, Alaska — The Dominican University of California women's basketball team was unable to overcome a first-half deficit in a 82-65 loss to host Alaska Fairbanks on Thanksgiving evening in the North Star Invitational.

Melissa Boscarino led all players with a career-high 15 points while Noelle Roldan and Salonika Quewon-Owens each added 12 points in the loss. Sarah Nelson grabbed a game-high 10 rebounds.

Dominican (0-4) outscored the Nanooks (5-1) in the second half but shot just 21-of-65 (.323) for the game. Alaska jumped out to a 5-0 lead and extended its lead to 13-3 by the first media timeout at 15:47. Dominican went on a six-point run early in the second half but was unable to further cut into the lead.

Kelly Logue led the Nanooks with 14 points.

Dominican will face Wayne State College on Friday, Nov. 29 at 2:00 p.m. (3:00 p.m. Pacific) in day two of the North Star Invitational.
