Women's basketball falls to Cal State East Bay

Melissa Boscarino had nine points in Saturday's loss to Cal State East Bay.
Box Score SAN FRANCISCO — Noelle Roldan had 10 points but the Dominican University of California women's basketball team shot just 19-of-61 (.311) from the field in a 90-51 loss to Cal State East Bay at Kezar Pavilion on Saturday afternoon.

Melissa Boscarino added a career-high nine points on 4-of-8 shooting and Danielle Yamauchi added eight points in the loss. Freshman Ashley Sorensen came off the bench to grab a career-high eight rebounds to lead the Penguins on the glass.

Five Pioneers (1-3) reached double digits, led by Brianna Terrance's 20 points.

The Penguins led briefly on a Boscarino layup at the 16-minute mark in the first half but never got anything going beyond that. The Pioneers led 56-29 at halftime and led by as much as 41 in the game.

Dominican faces Humboldt State at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday in the second day of the PacWest/CCAA Women's Basketball Challenge.
