Box Score LAIE, Hawaii — Lee Leverrier scored his first career goal but the Dominican University of California men's soccer fell 2-1 in Saturday's Pacific West Conference match at BYU-Hawaii.
The freshman scored off a pass from
Vini Enriquez to give the Penguins (3-7-2/1-4-1) a 1-0 lead in the 29th minute.
The lead turned out to be short lived though, as the Seasiders (4-3-2/2-2-1) answered less than a minute later. David Urbina scored unassisted.
The two teams entered halftime tied 1-1 with BYU-Hawaii holding a 4-1 shot advantage. The Seasiders outshot Dominican 15-0 in the second half. Patrick Rabbitt, who made five saves on the day. BYU-Hawaii finally slipped the game winner on another PK attempt. Pawel Dregan took the shot this time and scored the game winner in the 81st minute.
The Penguins took a corner kick in the final minute but were unable to convert on the set piece, one of four taken by Dominican.
The Penguins will head to Honolulu on Monday, Oct. 14 for their second match of the PacWest road trip. They'll face the Silver Swords of Chaminade University at 12:30 p.m. HST.
