SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California men's soccer team is making waves. The Penguins, in their second season of full NCAA Division II membership, are ranked No. 10 in the West Region on the NSCAA/Continental Tire NCAA Division II Men's poll.
The poll was released on Tuesday, Oct. 2 by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America and was voted on by members of the NSCAA.
The Penguins, who enter the week with a 7-1 overall mark and a 3-1 Pacific West Conference record, are currently ranked 10th in the West region after defeats of conference opponents Holy Names University and Academy of Art University this past week.
Dominican is currently ranked ninth in NCAA Division II in scoring offense (3.13), tied for 14th in total goals (25), tied for 18th in shutout percentage (.50), tied for 10th in win percentage (.875), tied for 16 in total assists (21), 13th in save percentage (.851), tied for 16th in total points (71), and fifth in saves per game (7.13).
Dominican travels to Fresno Pacific University on Thursday, Oct. 4 and faces rival Notre Dame de Namur University on Satuday, Oct. 6. The Argos, who recently dropped out of the top 25 in the nation, are fifth in the poll.
