SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California men's soccer team found itself on the wrong end of another tight 2-1 decision on Friday afternoon in Pacific West Conference play against visiting University of Hawai'i - Hilo.

Despite the Penguins (0-6-1/0-3-0) controlling the ball early on, the Vulcans (3-3-1/2-2-1) got out in front at the 22-minute mark when Raydan Bala found Christian Soto. Seconds before the end of the first half though, Pedro Guevara perfectly placed a set piece that Alec Ziegler headed in, framing the back post.

With the momentum shifted their way, the Penguins fired off 11 shots on goal for the game but Robin Furuya got his foot on the ball during a scramble in front of the Dominican net and with six and a half minutes remaining in regulation, netted the game-winner for Hilo.

Guevara and Shane Huiberts each placed four shots on goal for the Penguins. Matthew Carlson made two saves while allowing Hilo's pair of goals.

The Dominican men are back on the pitch on Monday, September 27 when local rival Notre Dame de Namur University visits for a 2:00 p.m. match.
