OAKLAND, Calif. — The Dominican University of California women's basketball team had its final tune-up on Tuesday night before regular play begins in a 100-74 exhibition loss to NAIA Division II Holy Names University.
The Lady Penguins found plenty to work on, turning the ball over 44 times and committing 34 fouls. Dominican was also outrebounded 38-24. Despite their shaky ballhandling and defense, the Lady Peguins shot the ball extremely well, making half of their 46 field goal attempts, including 6-of-12 from behind the three-point line. Dominican also went 22-of-25 (.880) from the charity stripe.
Guard
Kelsey Janusch was a bright spot for Dominican, leading all players with 20 points, seven rebounds, and five assists, and added a pair of steals in 36 minutes of action. Janusch went 5-of-13 (.384) from the field and an impressive 10-of-11 from the free throw line. Guard
Alyssa Prudencio came off the bench to add 12 points for the Lady Penguins. Starters

Kayla Valentine each chipped in 10 points apiece in the loss. Guard
Taki Te Koi rounded out Dominican's top five scorers with nine points on the night.
Holy Names led wire-to-wire and held a 17-point lead by halftime. The Lady Hawks saw five players reach double digit scoring. Antonette Capili scored a team-high 15 points. Lesley Vodicska added 14 points, Anitra McCain scored 13 points, and Jamie-Leigh Ronolo tossed in a dozen points. Valyncia Hartfield rounded out the Lady Hawks' top scorers with 11 points.
