SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California men's and women's soccer teams will hold “Kick Out Breast Cancer Day” by wearing pink jerseys on Saturday, October 30 when Dominican hosts the Academy of Art University in Pacific West Conference Play.
The men begin at 12:00 p.m. and the women are slated for a 2:30 p.m. start time. The matches will help benefit the American Cancer Society. Dominican encourages fans to wear pink to the games in support of breast cancer research.
The pink jerseys will be signed by the student-athletes and auctioned off, with bidding taking place until the end of halftime of each match — halftime of the men's match for the men's jerseys and halftime of the women's match for the women's jerseys — with a portion of the proceeds going to the American Cancer Society.
Advance bids may be e-mailed to Sports Information Director
Brandon Davis at
brandon.davis@dominican.edu or placed in person at the match.
“Kick Out Breast Cancer Day” is part of a larger effort by Dominican Athletics. The Penguin Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (PSAAC) has organized “DU Work Against Breast Cancer” to raise awareness about the fight against breast cancer. Dominican's male student-athletes are growing beards as a part of No-Shave November. A weekly photo gallery of participants is being posted at www.dominicanathletics.com/duwork and fans may make a donation to the American Cancer Society to sponsor their favorite Penguin, with the most sponsored Penguin taking home the "Dominican Manly Award.”
