BOX SCORE
SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — In an exciting third set, the Dominican University of California women's volleyball squad pushed the scoring into extra points. However, it was not enough to force an additional set, as the Lady Penguins lost to the BYU-Hawaii Seasiders, 15-25, 19-25, 27-29.
After dropping close decisions in the first two sets, Dominican (2-17/0-8) battled back from being down 17-14 in set three and took a 19-18 lead on freshman
Hannah Stocking's service ace. BYU-Hawaii (10-5/7-1) surged right back though, scoring five of the next six points. Dominican knotted the set yet again on freshman
Ria Falealili's kill. Losaline Faka'osi proved to be too much to stop though, and she recorded the match's final three points to give the Seasiders the decision.
The first-place junior tandem of Faka'osi and Julia Becker were tough to stop for BYU-Hawaii, each with 12 kills.
Falealili led Dominican with 13 kills and 12 digs. Stocking added seven kills and led the Lady Penguins with two aces.
Next up for Dominican is a road match against the Lady Argonauts of Notre Dame de Namur University. The match is scheduled for Monday, October 18 with an opening serve at 7:00 p.m.
