BOX SCORE
KENTFIELD, Calif. — It's in the record books! The Dominican University of California men's soccer team wrote themselves into history with a 2-1 victory over CSU East Bay on Monday afternoon for the soccer program's first victory as a Pacific West conference school.
Just six minutes in,
Pedro Guevara connected for his first goal of the season on a 1v1 after
Evan Cordova found him in the left side of the box.
Ten minutes into the second half,
Tim Pinella found Guevara for another 1v1 opportunity and Guevara answered the call, scoring Dominican's second goal of the day. The goal turned out to be necessary insurance when CSU East Bay's Arnoldo Mendoza scored off a throw in just five minutes later.
Dominican came away the victory despite being outshot 12-5 and trailing 3-1 in corner kick opportunities.
The Penguins will look to climb to the .500 mark on Sept. 10 when NAIA Oregon Tech visits. The game site will be College of Marin in Kentfield. Kickoff is set for 2:00 p.m.
