SAN RAFAEL, Calif. — The Dominican University of California men's soccer team battled to a 1-1 tie with Pacific West Conference opponent Hawai'i Pacific University on Thursday afternoon.

With the tie, the Penguins now stand at (5-5-1/2-2-1) while HPU records their first tie, standing at 6-1-1/3-1-1.

Chance Bukoski, the PacWest's leading goal scorer, tallied his eighth goal of the season at the 17 minute mark to put HPU ahead early 1-0.

Late at the 74 minute mark, a scramble in front of HPU's goal led to Dominican's Alec Ziegler grounding the ball with his shoulder and Shane Huiberts swooped in to place the ball in the back of the net to tie the match at one goal apiece.

The two teams battled into double overtime without scoring again.

Matthew Carlson made 7 saves for the Penguins, including a save on a penalty kick at the 94 minute mark by Bukoski and a save off the crossbar just seconds later to preserve the tie.

The Penguins host BYU-Hawaii on Monday, Oct. 12. Kickoff is set for 1:30 p.m. at Forest Meadows Field on the Dominican campus.
