Last second goal downs Penguins at HPU

BOX SCORE

HONOLULU, HI — It all came down to the final seconds of the game on Tuesday, as the Dominican University of California men's soccer team fell 2-1 to Hawai'i Pacific University in Pacific West Conference play.

HPU (8-2-1/5-2-1) got on the scoreboard first with a goal in the 23 minute off a free kick. Dominican (6-8-1/3-5-1) answered the call just two minutes later to even things up when Weekly Top 10 honorees Shane Huiberts and Pedro Guevara teamed up for the score. Huiberts served a ball to the middle of the box to find Guevara, who sent a volley over the keeper's head.

The two teams went into halftime tied at one and the next 44 minutes went scoreless as well. With time winding down, HPU's Chance Bukowski kept his conference scoring streak alive with the game winner – his eighth in eight games – in the 89 minute.

HPU outshot Dominican 15-5 while both teams had five corner kicks.

The Penguins continue their tour of Hawai'i on Thursday with a 12:30/3:30 p.m. Pacific match against BYU-Hawaii.
