Men's Soccer falls 3-1 to NDNU

BELMONT, Calif. — The Dominican University of California men's soccer team fell 3-1 to host Notre Dame de Namur University on Friday afternoon in Pacific West Conference play.

The Penguins (5-5-0/2-2-0) were outshot by the Argos (3-8-0/3-1-0) 19-7 and gave up a 9-2 corner kick advantage, an advantage that fostered NDNU's second goal.

NDNU scored in the tenth minute with a shot from the goal line. Dominican managed to keep the Argos scoreless the next 70 minutes of play but two consecutive goals in the 83 and 84 minutes gave NDNU a 3-0 advantage. Just 29 seconds after NDNU added its third goal, the Penguins answered with their lone goal of the match, a penalty kick by Pedro Guevara.

Dominican takes on Hawai'i Pacific University on Sept. 8 in more PacWest Conference action. The men kickoff at 2:00 p.m. with the women to follow at 4:00 p.m.
